Exploring Dubai's Events & Festivals Throughout The Year - The Dubai Art Season
The Dubai Art Season is a celebration of the art world designed to run annually over the month from mid March to mid April, acting as a showcase for talented artists of all disciplines, and making up one more of the array of cultural and entertainment related events held in the Emirate.
The initiative was launched and is managed by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, and marks another step in Dubai's meteoric rise to becoming the leading leisure destination of the 21st century.
Images of many of the works exhibited will find their way on to #mydubai social site pages online, and in the years leading up to Expo 2020 the month long festival is expected to cement itself as one of the Emirates most widely anticipated events.
With future developments in the tourism and business areas expected to continue growing at a rapid pace, initiatives such as the art season will act as catalysts for increasing visitor numbers over coming years.
The 2014 Art Season event is expected to showcase over 150 separate activities which will combine to cover various individual art related events such as Art Dubai, Art Week, the Middle East Film & Comic Con and Gulf Film Festival.
Dubai Art Week
The Dubai Art Season kicks off with an array of highly anticipated events which include Art Dubai, the SIKKA Art Fair, and Design Days Dubai. Wrapping around these events is a fascinating exhibition of an acclaimed 3D artist from the UK - Julian Beever - who will be showing his works in a live exhibition entitled Anamorphic Illusions. The work features a distortion of objects that gives a viewer different 3D perspectives depending on their viewing position.
Other events include workshops, performances, indoor and outdoor projects and exhibitions - all held across a number of well known Dubai landmarks including:
• The Dubai Mall
• The Walk At Jbr
• Al Fahidi Historical District
• Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown Dubai
• Al Serkal Avenue
• Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC)
• The Beach areas
• The Cultural and Scientific Association in Al Mamzar.
The Dubai Mall and Beach areas, and the Walk in JBR are of course all perfect outdoor locations for watching and seeing live performances, and there are other live artistic events in the Downtown Dubai and Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard areas.
